Definition: (journalism) An action or excuse which prevents damage to your reputation or the loss of people's respect for you.

1. Purposeful - to keep standing or save face. (See definition.)

2. Considered necessary to take or give particular action or excuse.

3. Done clearly or openly by you or said or offered publicly.

4. Taken or uttered timely to make the most effective impact.

5. Has no whiff of illegality or immorality and not indefensible.

6. Will not have a negative side effect or repercussion.

7. Would not be too 'costly', for you, to do or say.

8. Reputation or respect retained will be for a period that will be considered worthwhile. That is, action or talk will achieve goal(s).
