Extra time
EXTRA TIME

Definition: (North American English) (sport) A set period of time that is added to the end of a sports game, etc., if there is no winner at the end of the normal period.

1. Purposeful and necessary.

2. Specific, fixed and identifiable.

3. Period can be measured and/or assessed.

4. Additional time is as allowed or permitted by the rules and regulations of the game/sport.

5. Will be used up, unless the requirement is for a 'golden goal' to bring play to an early end.

6. Official(s), equipment, venue(s), etc. remains unchanged during the additional period.

7. (Reserved.) (No unplanned loss, damage, etc., exhaustion, collapse and death occurs during period, to fans/supporters, players/officials, field/equipment, etc.)

8. Time produces a winner! That is, the period added achieves objective(s).
