| EXPECTORATION (1) Definition: The act of coughing and making phlegm come up from your lungs into your mouth so that you can spit it out; the substance that comes out from this act. ______________________________________________________________________ * All seven elements should be in. * This is not about the substance. 1. Purposeful and necessary. 2. Timely to help achieve goal(s) - prevention of discomfort, etc. 3. Act takes place in the right environment or at the right place - not one in which a disturbance, embarrassment or inconvenience can be caused to any other(s), that is/are present or passing by. 4. All the phlegm is brought out before spitting is done. That is, act lasts for duration considered appropriate and finishes in one straight 'session', whether assisted by a drug or not. 5. Substance is spit into the right place - basin, handkerchief, etc. 6. Mouth, lips, hand, etc. are cleaned after the act. 7. Relief is obtained from cough and spit.
