| APOLOGIST Definitions: i. [ ~ (for somebody/something) ] A person who tries to explain and defend something, especially a political system or religious ideas. ii. (formal) An apologist is a person who writes or speaks in defence of a belief, a cause, or a person's life. ______________________________________________________________________ * All nine elements would be in. 1. Has a purpose even if others think or allege that the person is defending the indefensible. 2. Considers it a necessity to stick his or her neck out in support of a belief or conviction. 3. Explains thoroughly, defends stoutly, writes clearly, speaks fluently on each occasion. 4. Never gets personal or insults reader/listener, and will not be physical, in the course of making efforts. 5. Must not be a doubter. That is, utterances, ideas, actions, inaction, etc. will be convincing and/or sure-footed. 6. Has the ability or capability to tolerate criticism or opposition, rejection or objection, etc.; cool-headed and patient. 7. Will readily and willingly admit the shortcoming(s), if any, in what is being propagated or in who is being supported or promoted. 8. Always able or available to try again, especially if he or she does not succeed the first or previous time. That is, does not get tired in the attempt to win new converts, however laborious the task. 9. Will not turn out to be an apostate in the future and backslide, renounce, deny, etc. the belief or withdraw a previous endorsement.
