| EVOLUTION (1) Definition: (biology) The gradual development of plants, animals, etc. over many years as they adapt to changes in their environment. ______________________________________________________________________ * All seven elements would be in. 1. Purposeful and necessary. 2. Changes are specific and identifiable. 3. Development in a new stage, at every point in time, is measurable and/or assessable. 4. Speed or rate of change is as expected or predicted. 5. The environment or ecosystem is not negatively affected by the changes (= gradual development). 6. Development will eventually be completed/concluded. That is, plants, animals, etc. will go 'full circle' and grow to maturity. 7.
