EQUALIZATION (2)

Definition: (British English) (especially in (soccer)) The situation in which a goal is scored that makes the score of both teams equal.

1. Purposeful and considered necessary to score equalizing goal.

2. Goal is genuine, not one that should have been disallowed by the referee (to emphasize).

3. A loss, disadvantage, disqualification or elimination, etc. would have been the outcome, for team being 'outplayed', of not scoring equalizing goal.

4. No unplanned loss - red card, injury, etc. - arises from the goal that equals score.

5. Goal serves purpose(s) (connect to #3), whether in regulation or extra time.

6. Game or match is not asked to be replayed. Or equal score result is not upheld in the event of a protest or an appeal by one of the teams.
