| ACADEMIC FREEDOM Definition: Intellectual freedom in teaching and learning within the academic community, without fear of unwanted dismissal or other sanction. ______________________________________________________________________ * All nine elements should be in. 1. Purposeful and necessary for who has or gets privilege. 2. Takes into consideration, while being expressed, the etiquette, ethos, etc. of the particular discipline or profession. 3. Freedom will be made use of only after the acquisition of full knowledge concerning the topic or subject matter to be handled. 4. Research, experiment, excursion, etc., that will be the basis of teaching and learning will go beyond that obtained in an ivory tower. 5. Involves or includes the willingness and readiness to defend postulate or concede to superior reasoning or better argument. 6. Outcome of liberty will be beneficial to all - the public - and the environment - nature and the ecosystems; achieves objective(s). 7. Freedom will be guaranteed as long as topic of discussion will be lawful, relevant or important to listeners or readers. 8. No direct financial or pecuniary demand will be made as a result of teaching or learning 'without borders'. That is, attendance at seminars or lectures, issuance of handouts, etc. will not be paid for. 9.
