| ELATER (2) Definition: A member of Elateridae, a family of beetles commonly known as click beetles. By vigorous muscular action they are able to leap high into the air. When alarmed they simulate death. They feed on flowers, grasses and decaying wood. The larvae (wireworms) damage they roots of herbaceous plants.
