Definition: (of a pilot) The act of escaping from an aircraft that is going to crash, sometimes using the ejector seat.

1. Plane was certified airworthy before pilot took to the skies.

2. Pilot has a purpose for considering an escape (connect to #3).

3. Pilot has a necessity for trying to stay alive (to emphasize, connect to #1).

4. All possible attempts to avoid crash were made. That is, pilot abandons plane at the 'eleventh hour'.

5. (Reserved.) (Pilot is not shot and killed by sniper fire on descent from the sky. Or he/she is not captured and killed thereafter, on landing.)

6. Pilot lands safely without an injury.

7. Pilot is able to help later with investigations of the crash.

8. Pilot can go on a flight or a sortie again.

9. Act achieves objective(s).
