| EDITOR (1) Definition: A person who is in charge of a newspaper, magazine, etc., or part of one, and who decides what should be included. ______________________________________________________________________ * All fourteen elements should be in. 1. Purposeful. (See perfect DECISION-MAKING.) 2. Considered necessary to give particular person specific responsibility. (See perfect BOSS (1).) 3. Has paid his or her dues: been a journalist - freelance or employed - desk or sub-editor, etc. before appointment. That is, 'boss' is a qualified 'professional'. (See perfect NEWS-GATHERER.) 4. Decision on articles to be included are always well-thought. That is, person is usually in an excellent frame of mind at the time of decision-making. (See perfect DISCERNMENT.) 5. What has been chosen was read, heard or listened to, seen, etc. even if published/broadcast unedited! (See perfect COLUMN (4).) 6. Well-informed, thorough, open-minded and with a lot of common sense. (See perfect NEWS (4).) 7. Never joins the workers on an industrial action against the employer/proprietor. (See perfect INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS.) 8. Decision taken will not lead to a problem or loss for employer or proprietor. That is, no libel or defamation suit will be faced by newspaper or station as a result of what he/she decides should be published or broadcast. (See perfect PRESS FREEDOM.) 9. Decision is not based, determined or influenced by an inducement, a gratification, the lure of filthy lucre or some immoral consideration. (See perfect PAGE-THREE GIRL.) 10. Writes the editorial and takes responsibility for corrigenda, etc. And consults regularly with the editorial board. (See perfect SELF-RIGHTEOUSNESS). 11. Reports regularly to the owner/proprietor or the senior editor, on the relevant activities that should be brought to their notice. (See perfect DEPUTY (1).) 12. Patriotic and/or loyal to the employer/proprietor, even if thinking of changing 'stables'. That is, never a blackmailer! (See perfect LETTER BOMB.) 13. Serves purpose(s).
