| ANTHROPOCENTRISM Definitions: i. The belief that humans are the centre or purpose of the universe and that they are more important than anything else. ii. The belief and practice that places more emphasis on humans as being more important than anything else. ______________________________________________________________________ * Belief will be confirmed by all six situations being in. 1. Living arrangements - building designs, construction models, transportation systems, etc. - will basically not consider or provide for the needs of the lower animals. (Piss off!) 2. Conduct and behaviour, attitude and interaction, etc. between humans will not condone an interference from the lower animals or other creatures. (What mates?) 3. Laws, rules, regulation, etc. and the administration of a society will not take serious cognizance of the existence of the non-human entities. (What animal rights?) 4. Restriction of movements, limitation of contacts, control of breeding ability (where possible) will be the hallmark of the relationship of man with 'the rest'. (Who cares?) 5. The natural environment and ecosystems, including outer space and beneath the oceans, will be permanently and consistently dominated by the destructive activities of man. (Share what?) 6. Who has belief will not be thinking of ways to accommodate or tolerate some other creatures and/or wishing for better living conditions for the other inhabitants of the planet.
