| DUEL (1) Definition: A formal fight with weapons between two people, used in the past to settle a disagreement, especially over a matter of honour. ______________________________________________________________________ * All eleven elements should be in. 1. Purposeful (see definition). 2. Considered necessary to settle disagreement in particular manner. 3. All appropriate avenues to resolve differences amicably have been tried unsuccessfully (connect to #2, to emphasize). 4. Rules are known to and acceptable by the fighters. 5. Weapons used are the same. And no unauthorized help is allowed! 6. The fighters are not assisted by steroids, dope, etc. 7. Fight is regulated by umpire(s) and this/these official(s) is/are fair and independent-minded. 8. Fight produces a winner at the end, however long it takes. 9. No fatality from the 'war': none of the fighters die 'in battle'. 10. Issue is resolved once and for all: no draw, no rematch ! 11.
