Dramatic irony
DRAMATIC IRONY

Definition: A situation in a play when a character's word carry an extra meaning to the audience because they know more than the character, especially about what is going to happen.

* All five elements should be in.

1. Anticipation is optimum at the moment as focus is full, in expectation or to confirm assumed knowledge of the next occurrence.

2. Effect of utterance (= word) on audience is as expected. That is, no surprises arise from the response by listener(s) (connect to #1).

3. No unplanned loss, such as a boo, or slow handclap, for the speaker/actor. (To emphasize.)

4. Word is properly pronounced, so that a misinterpretation by the audience does not happen.

5. Situation passes and drama is able to be continued afterwards.
