DOWNTIME (1)

Definition: The time during which a machine, especially a computer, is not working.

1. Purposeful and considered necessary for machine to have a break.

2. Arranged or planned. That is, machine is set to not work deliberately - not the outcome of a malfunction or breakdown.

3. Had work excellently before the stop.

4. Machine is off for duration desired (connect to #2).

5. Not put at risk. That is, machine is safe, protected and secured during the period that it is not working.

6. Non-functioning machine does not pose a danger to others - man, other equipment, environment, animal(s), etc.

7. Machine that is at rest does not earn an income or bring a benefit in any form during the period it is off.

8. (Reserved.) (Machine is not damaged or stolen while it is on 'inactive service'.)

9. No unplanned loss arises from the break.

10. Can be switched on to work and will work normally again, whether it was serviced or not, during the period of the break.

11. 'Rest' achieves objective(s).
