| DOUKHOBOR Definition: A member of a fanatical Russian religious sect, dating from the second half of the 18th century. Their rejection of the Christian sacraments and the dogmas of the Trinity and the divinity of Christ, led to their persecution and exile (1843) to the remote Caucasus. Many communities emigrated to Western Canada after 1898, where their religious attitudes (similar to those of the Quakers) continued to bring them into conflict with the authorities. ____________________________________ See perfect fanaticism.
