| DOGTAG Definition: (North American English, slang) A small piece of metal that US soldiers wear round their necks with their name and number on it. ______________________________________________________________________ * All eight elements should be in. 1. Purposeful and considered necessary to have 'identity' on. 2. Inscription on metal is clear, readable. 3. Details are correct. That is, name written is not a nom de guerre and number has no missing, wrong or misplaced digit(s). 4. Always worn, except maybe during ... or in a ... . 5. Metal is made of the right substance - not one that soldier is allergic to - won't cause a problem for wearer's skin/neck. 6. Shinning quality of metal (if applicable) will not put soldier in a disadvantageous position, especially during an exercise or during a military operation. 7.
