| DISCERNMENT (1) Definition: (formal, approving) The ability to show good judgment about the quality of somebody/something. ______________________________________________________________________ * All eight elements would be in. 1. There is a basis - knowledge/information, education/training, qualification/experience, etc. - not an intuition or a sixth sense, some reckoning or a guesstimate, etc. 2. Consideration is given to all the available data, ideas, facts, suggestions, etc. That is, 'study' conducted is thorough. 3. Assumptions, deductions, etc. that are made after examination of data or information are reasonable (connect to #4). 4. The frame of mind of person showing ability is excellent at the time of decision-making. 5. Reviews, assessments, investigations, etc. if necessary, are conducted with seriousness, not handled carelessly or rushed/hurried. 6. There is a certainty about or an awareness of what is very good, good, average, bad or poor quality is. (To emphasize, see definition.) 7. Decision does not take 'forever' to be made. 8.
