| DIMINISHING RETURNS Definition: In economics, diminishing returns is a situation in which the increase in production, profits, or benefits resulting from something is less than the money or energy that is invested. ______________________________________________________________________ * All seven elements would be in. 1. Not truly desired or planned, even if expected or projected. And not possible to stop investing resources - money or energy - in thing. 2. A basis for comparison will exist. That is, there will be past records or historical data used in deciding that a decline has set in. 3. A reason or justification - ageing equipment, outdated inputs, ineffective marketing, etc. - will be known or can be provided for declining outcome or output, incomes or gains. 4. There was a detailed projection or an estimation of expected production level, profitability or return on investment, etc. But this would not or cannot be met under the prevailing circumstances. 5. Quantity and/or quality of money or energy required at each stage is that still being provided or supplied. That is, the input into a production or manufacturing, trading or marketing, etc. process, will not be reduced, such that it will be adduced to explain shortfall. 6. Lessening returns will be gradual and continue for as long as investments are still being made in particular thing. And no serious misgivings or mishap will arise as a consequence. 7. Will end in zero, or nil, or nought.
