| DEVIANT Definition: A person whose behaviour and attitude is different from what most people consider to be normal and acceptable. ______________________________________________________________________ * All nine elements would be in. 1. Purposeful and necessary, even though unapproved by some others. 2. Knows the normal and proper behaviour and attitude expected of him or her. And has no impediment to doing or showing these. 3. Will benefit from deviancy. That is, achieves negative goal(s). 4. Will escape a sanction, punishment, disgrace, talking-to, etc. 5. Does not compel or influence another to copy bad behaviour. 6. Bad behaviour or wrong attitude does not include the destruction of private or public property. Or the infliction of injury or wound on another, especially innocent person (to emphasize). 7. No illegality is committed during the period of deviancy. 8. Person will show some consistency; has some self-esteem (cocksure), usually self-indulgent (intransigent) and normally self-congratulatory (unrepentant). 9.
