| DETERRENCE (2) Definitions: i. What makes somebody less likely to do something. ii. The prevention of something, especially war or crime, by having something such as weapons or punishment to use as a threat. ______________________________________________________________________ * All eight elements should be in. 1. Purposeful and necessary to have thing that deters. 2. Thing is specific and identifiable; known and verifiable. 3. What deters is measurable and/or assessable ... whatever !. 4. Thing is real or realistic (to emphasize). That is, can be confirmed with any, some or all of the five senses, as required. 5. Available, provided, promulgated, etc. on time to be able to have desired effect on who or what is to be deterred. 6. Has a force of law or authority. That is, thing cannot be successfully challenged and/or dislodged. 7. Remains in place or position for as long as necessary or required. 8. No likelihood or probability of thing being misinterpreted or misrepresented and, therefore, treated with levity.
