DETERRENCE (1)

Definition: The capacity that something has that makes somebody less likely to do something.

1. Purposeful, even if considered unnecessary for the person trying to do particular thing.

2. Specific and identifiable capacity.

3. No inherent gain or benefit in the thing, to cause a 'defiance'.

4. Capacity cannot be easily defeated or overcome.

5. Consequence of disregarding thing is known as unpalatable. That is, the loss and/or 'gain' in situation is surely known.

6. Thing is not illegal, even if dangerous.

7. Capacity exists, lasts or is present for appropriate duration.

8. Serves purpose(s). That is, no attempt will be made to do, or no try to continue and complete, the thing that was to be done, by the capacity.
