| DETECTIVE STORY Definition: A narrative involving the detection by a detective of an apparently perfect crime, the reader being kept informed of the stages so that his own puzzle-solving faculty is in play and the suspense heightened. ______________________________________________________________________ * All eight elements should be in. 1. Considered purposeful and necessary by the writer or storyteller. 2. Plot(s), storyline and counterplot(s), if any, are well laid out. 3. Readability will be assured by the choice of words employed. 4. Outcome at the end of each stage would not be easily predictable. 5. The tale, for reader or reviewer, will be intriguing and riveting. 6. Narrative will be concluded, whether or not after a hiatus. 7. The writing achieves goal(s) (see definition, connect to #4 & #5). 8.
