| DESELECTION (1) Definition: The act or action of a local branch of a political party in Britain not choosing and presenting an existing Member of Parliament, to be a candidate at the next election. ______________________________________________________________________ * All nine elements should be in. 1. Purposeful and considered a necessity, in the estimation of the majority of the branch members. 2. Existing Member of Parliament was desirous of retaining seat. And would have started consultations, mobilization, etc. towards the upcoming nomination and subsequent election. 3. 'Offences' committed by MP would be made known to him/her and representative will be given a chance to defend accusation or allegations on which 'recall' is being based (to emphasize). 4. Existing Member of Parliament will not defect to a rival political party - and go on to win (= retain) the seat! (Connect to #5 & #8.) 5. Politician picked by branch will not be a stooge of the 'reject'. 6. Substitute candidate wins the election proper, cleanly and performs creditably on getting to the House of Commons. That is, local constituency will benefit, in the end, from the decision taken. 7. 'Rejected stone' will not be asked to stand in the election following that for which he or he will be dropped, as a result of new Member of Parliament being unable to complete tenure or tour. 8. The MP dropped will not be permanently barred, by local branch, from seeking an elective office, on party's platform, in the future. 9. (Reserved.) (Politician 'banned' does not withdraw support for the party or replacement candidate.
