| DEPOSIT (4) Definition: (in the British political system) The amount of money that a candidate in an election to Parliament has to pay, and that is returned if he/she gets enough votes. ______________________________________________________________________ * All five or six elements, as applicable, would be in. 1. Purposeful (see definition). 2. Considered necessary, by the culture, tradition, protocol, etc. of the British system to pay sum. 3. Cannot be avoided. That is, has a backing - conventions, law, etc. 4. Election is not rigged or manipulated to get or not get enough votes (to emphasize). 5. Cash paid is genuine, and refund, if applicable, is also of genuine currency. (Or cheque paid/received has no problem when lodged in a bank account.) 6.
