DEPENDENCY (1)

Definition: [ ~ (on/upon somebody/something) ] The state of relying on somebody/something for something, especially when this is not normal or necessary.

1. Purposeful and necessary for the dependent person(s).

2. A capability to be self-reliant exists (see definition).

3. State is tolerated by the party being unnecessarily relied on. Or, there is no serious discouragement to put the dependent person(s) off.

4. Does not cause a problem for the benefactor. That is, no unplanned loss arises for the party rendering support.

5. Lasts for an unreasonable duration, in the helper's opinion.

6. Resistance is or will be put up when dependence is attempted to be stopped. And no punishment is meted out to 'pest'.

7. 'Scrounger' (= dependent) achieves objective(s).

8. Unused energy or saved resources, owned by dependent person(s), are used for some other 'positives' or beneficial ends - not left unused. (Connect to #2.)

9. Dependent person(s) will survive, if or when support is forcefully withdrawn.
