Demurrer
DEMURRER

Definition: (law) Someone who demurs (= an objection to an opponent's evidence on the basis, not of truth, but of relevance or sufficiency in law (which delays the action until the point is settled).)

1. Purposeful and necessary for who objects.

2. Occurs after evidence of opponent is heard in full.

3. Grounds will be specific and identifiable (see definition).

4. Objection raised will be allowed to be responded to.

5. Tactics achieves goal(s); only if delay is taken advantage of.

6. No unplanned loss is suffered in the course of demurring.

7. Will be directed to judge, not the opponent; no cross-examination.
