| DEGRADATION (1) Definition: A situation in which somebody has lost all self-respect and the respect of other people. ______________________________________________________________________ * All seven elements would be in. 1. Unplanned and unprepared for. 2. Person is thought incapable of being in particular situation. 3. 'Offence' results in a great loss - of reputation, funds or resources, liberty, etc. to the person and/or to the public. 4. No fallback position for the person. That is, nothing useful or important is possessed or is likely to be possessed by the 'down and out', that may be desired by the public, in the future. 5. There is nothing, at the particular time, that can redeem or correct the situation. 6. Person cannot disappear from public consciousness (= cannot commit suicide; still hopeful, or be killed; still has a bit nuisance value). 7.
