DEFEAT (1)

Definition: Failure to win or to be successful.
______________________________________________________________________

* All six elements would be in.

1. Not deliberate. That is, not purposefully planned for.

2. Maximum efforts were put into endeavour, but these turned out inadequate or inappropriate; unsuccessful.

3. 'Rules of engagement' were not shifted during 'play'. That is, the success 'nuggets' were clearly stated, static and/or permanent during the performance of activities aimed at achieving specific goal(s).

4. Judgment, ruling, marking, interpretation, assessment, etc. of the efforts that were put into endeavour is just, fair, correct, etc. That is, no complaint arises with the award of an 'F' grading. In other words, defeat is earned!

5. No attempt is or can be made again to retry; to act to succeed. Or no opportunity to 'resit' an 'exam'; no second chance!

6. A serious loss, shame, etc. arises in the situation, whether failure is partial or total.
