| DEFAULT (4) Definition: (sports) Failure to take part in or finish a contest. ______________________________________________________________________ * All seven elements should be in. 1. Who failed was rightly entered or nominated, qualified and fully prepared. And was expected to participate or finish !! 2. Causative factor(s) would be specific and identifiable, measurable and/or assessable - lateness, illness, injury, etc. 3. Problem(s) responsible for situation is/are genuine - no fear or stage fright, mind game or politics !! 4. Who fails will feel disappointed over shattered dream and/or lost opportunity. There will, therefore, be an eagerness to make up. 5. Failure won't lead to a retirement from sport or death soon after not finishing - there will be a living to 'fight' another day. 6. Serious efforts will be made, thereafter, to rectify the fault or error responsible for nonparticipation or noncompletion. 7. No consolation prize will be awarded to who was not (a no-show) or to participant that didn't reach finishing line (a no-hoper?). CAUSES A CONCERN. _________________________ DNS.
