Defamation
DEFAMATION

Definition: (formal) The act of damaging somebody's reputation by saying or writing bad or false things about them.

1. Purposeful and necessary - for the rascal and/or liar!

2. Deliberate. That is, clearly known that what is said or written are falsehoods, untruths, etc.

3. Person whose reputation is damaged complained, with a demand for retraction and an apology.

4. Request or plea for a retraction or apology is not heeded by the speaker/writer/publisher, etc.

5. There is a challenge (= suit) in a court of law. That is, the person(s)/newspaper/journalist, etc. defaming another is/are sued.

6. Trial ruled in favour of complainant and awarded damages against the guilty party. (And damages was paid in full.)

7. Act is or will be regretted afterwards (connect to #5). (Still no apology is/will be made, unless specifically ordered by the court.)

8. (Reserved.) (No physical blows, knocks, headbutts, etc. are ever exchanged between 'defamer' and victim!)
