| DECREE NISI Definitions: i. (British English, law) An order from a court that a marriage will end after a fixed amount of time unless there is a good reason why it should not. ii. An order made by a court which states that a divorce must take place at a certain time in the future unless a good reason is produced to prevent this. ______________________________________________________________________ * All nine elements should be in. 1. Purposeful and necessary, even if only as required by the law. 2. Persons whose marriage is to be ended by order are fully heard. 3. Order will be specific in terms of 'waiting time', any term, etc. 4. Husband and wife would have used period to reflect, have a rethink. 5. The decision not to advance a good reason, after which order will be made, will be taken jointly by both the husband and his wife. 6. The marriage that would or could be ended by court's order, would have lasted for some considerable or reasonable period of time. 7. What is a good reason will be as determined by either of the couple. That is, either husband or wife will not object to the dissolution of their union. In other words, goodness will not be as decided by the court (= judge). 8. Order can only be discharged, where applicable, by the particular court that issued same. (Connect to #7, to emphasize.) 9.
