| DECONSECRATION Definition: (religion) The stoppage of the use of something, especially a building, for a religious purpose. ______________________________________________________________________ * All eight elements would be in. 1. Purposeful. And considered necessary, even vital, not to use thing, or building, whether with an authorization or not. 2. Justified and/or has a basis, even if not backed by a divine or religious commandment or law. And thing, or building, is not unused because of its derelict or unsafe condition (to emphasize). 3. Thing, or building, is not referred to in a sermon. And its picture/photo, etc. is not used in a tract or postcard. 4. The thing, or building, is not discussed or visited in furtherance of religious education. And is not prayed to be returned to for any religious purpose(s). 5. Income (or rent), if any, from thing (or building) is not accepted in fulfilment of a religious obligation such as a tithe, zakat, sacrifice, etc. And resources or funds are not spent to guard, repair, maintain or develop the thing, or property. 6. Stoppage lasts for a duration considered appropriate. And thing, or building, is not taken over, during period, and used for a religious purpose, by another user or rival sect (connect to #4, to emphasize). 7. Action achieves objective(s). And thing or building is not used or occupied by devilish or evil forces, while not serving religious purpose(s). 8. No repercussions from higher powers - secular or spiritual - for decision to discontinue use of thing, or building.
