DECISION-MAKING

Definition: The process of deciding about something important, especially in a group of people or in an organization.

* All eleven elements should be in.

* The often 'Number 1' requirement.


1. Purposeful (to emphasize).

2. Considered necessary to decide on issue.

3. Process is commenced, conducted and concluded timely.

4. All the relevant inputs are available and collated. That is, evidence-based. In other words, not whimsical.

5. Assessment, study, review(s), etc. are all comprehensively, thoroughly, correctly and completely done.

6. Nothing untoward or illegal is undertaken during process.

7. All questions, clarifications, investigations, etc. that are needed to be asked, made, etc. are answered, sought, etc.

8. An elimination system is applied to reduce the 'probables' and the 'possibles' among the viable options. That is, gains and losses in the various scenarios are known while studying the situations.

9. Choice (= decision) is finally made, whether favourable (liked) or not (disliked). That is, process will be concluded.

10. The strategy or strategies for executing or implementing the thing decided on, is set out, in general terms, when decision is made.

11. Process achieves objective(s). That is, will be expected or hoped to be followed-through by an appropriate execution of the choice made.
