| DECADENCE (1) Definition: (disapproving) Behaviour, attitudes, etc. which show a fall in standards, especially moral ones, and an interest in pleasure and enjoyment rather than more serious things. ______________________________________________________________________ * All nine elements would be in. 1. Purposeful - for the 'rotten'. 2. Behaviour, attitudes, etc. is specific and identifiable. 3. Fall is measurable and/or assessable. 4. 'Develops' gradually and steadily over time. 5. Not challenged by the morally upright. Or where there are warnings, for the badly behaved, these are ignored. 6. Fall is continuous, until ... . And serious things suffer neglect, till ... . 7. Not beneficial or profitable in the long run. 8. Behaviour, attitudes, etc. is not publicly or openly applauded, even if displayed or exhibited brazenly (to emphasize). 9.
