Daniell cell
DANIELL CELL

Definition: A primary electric cell in which the negative pole is zinc in an electrolyte of dilute sulfuric acid or zinc sulfate solution, and the positive pole is copper in a saturated copper sulfate solution. The poles are separated by a porous partition which allows the flow of electricity and prevents mixture of the electrolytes and reduces polarization. The cell gives a constant electromotive force of 1.1 volts.
