CURTAIN-RAISER (1)

Definition: [ ~ (to something) ] A small event that prepares for a more important one.

1. Purposeful (see definition).

2. Considered appropriate and necessary to perform act.

3. Commences and ends at the right time - close to the time the main event is billed to start. That is, no long break between end of 'appetizer' and 'main course'. (Connect to #4.)

4. Time/duration, that it takes, is not annoyingly long. And is shorter than the period taken by the more important event.

5. No person in the audience leaves before start of the more important event, as a result of small event being a poor show.

6. Participants or actors in small show are different from the cast of the more important show. (To emphasize.)

7. Events of small show are related to those that will be seen in main show.

8. More important event eventually takes place.
