Court martial
COURT MARTIAL

Definition: A military court that deals with members of the armed forces who break military law; a trial at such a court.

1. Purposeful and necessary - to maintain military discipline.

2. No member of the court is junior in rank or appointment to the accused officer(s)/soldier(s)/airman or airmen/sailor(s), etc.

3. Properly convened and constituted. That is, Court President, substantive and alternate member(s), judge advocate, etc. are complete. And it forms a quorum whenever it is in session.

4. Procedure is in line with military law(s).

5. Proceedings are beyond reproach (connect to #7).

6. Judgement is or will be confirmed by the appropriate (= convening) authority. That is, a retrial will not be ordered, whatever the judgment is.

7. Judgement can be appealed in a civil court. (And judgment will not be upturned on appeal to a civil court.)

8. Justice is served by the totality of its actions (and/or inaction).
