| COUP DE GRACE (1) Definitions: i. (from French, formal) An action or event that finally ends something that has been getting weaker or worse. ii. (formal) A coup de grace is an action or event which finally destroys something, for example an institution, which has been gradually growing weaker. ______________________________________________________________________ * All seven elements would be in. 1. Aimed purposefully to bring about an end. 2. Considered a necessity to employ strategy. 3. Not an illegal action or an unauthorized event. 4. Costs of action will be reasonable. Or the lessons of the event will not be taken to heart. That is, the impact will be tolerable. 5. Finality arrives timely, for it to be cost-effective. 6. Some saving grace or redeeming quality will be present in the situation in which an action or event finally destroys something. That is, there will be some good in the destructive methods applied. In other words, no condemnation or criticism of an act or occurrence. 7. What will be destroyed will not be revived or 'reconstructed' again.
