| COOLING-OFF PERIOD (1) Definitions: i. A period of time during which two sides in a disagreement try to reach an agreement before taking further action, for example by going on strike. ii. An agreed period of time during which two sides with opposing views try to resolve a dispute before taking any serious action. ______________________________________________________________________ * All seven elements should be in. 1. Purposeful and necessary to achieve some progress or positive. 2. Voluntarily and consciously agreed on, by all the parties, but only when believed that they have gotten to the end of their tethers. 3. The frame of minds or moods of the people involved will be top-class throughout this period: no hard drinking, glue-sniffing, etc. 4. Period will be considered as adequate to enable conclusion(s) to be reached. That is, time will be enough to gather information, seek advice, obtain support, ruminate over issue(s), reassess proposal(s), enter into alliance(s), listen to mediator(s), etc., as applicable. 5. There will be no possibility of an interference from, or contact with, the opposing side(s) or supporters of rival(s), during the period. 6. 'Resumption' will be with calmed nerves. That is, period would be productively used, even if nothing 'concrete' is achieved. 7. A deal (= an agreement) will be reached after period is over. Or the necessary action will commence, where a change of heart does not occur, immediately after end of 'rest'.
