Continuous assessment
CONTINUOUS ASSESSMENT

Definition: (British English) a system of giving a student a final mark/grade based on work done during a course of study rather than on one exam.

1. Purposeful and considered necessary (connect to #8).

2. System is approved and authorized by the appropriate educational authority/authorities.

3. Student knows that this is the system to be adopted from the very start of session/semester/season/academic year, etc.

4. Marking (scores) or grading (performance) in all the exams are beyond reproach and are always disclosed to student promptly.

5. Allocation of percentage of the overall score for each particular exam is known to the student (connect to #3).

6. No one 'final' exam takes prominence in respect of allocation of marks, over the other tests, singularly or combined.

7. Student does all the 'mini-exams'. That is, assessment is based on taking all the examinations set for the student, resit(s) inclusive!

8. System achieves objective(s) in the estimation of the school authority and this is confirmed only by the performance of student in exams, in comparison with the other system(s) of assessment.
