| CONSPICUOUS CONSUMPTION Definitions: i. The buying of expensive goods in order to impress people and show them how rich you are. ii. Spending money in such a way that other people can see how wealthy you are. ______________________________________________________________________ * All nine elements would be in. 1. Purposeful and necessary for the poser. 2. Things bought or purchased will not be fakes, forgeries, etc. 3. Money will be that which is lawfully earned and/or fully owned. 4. No real need or necessity will exist for the acquisitions, either as old and usable assets have not been exhausted or because there will be no benefit in the use of new possessions. 5. Application, use, display, etc. of things acquired will be in the open, for all and sundry to see, hear or feel, smell or touch. 6. A better standard of living or improved way of life will not be achieved as a direct consequence of the particular things bought. 7. (Reserved.) (Things bought will be underutilized or misapplied. And goods or items will impress the poor or covetous! And goodies can be given away without a second thought!!) 8.
