| CONCRETE JUNGLE Definitions: i. A way of describing a city or an area that is unpleasant because it has many large modern buildings and no trees or parks. ii. (disapproving) If you refer to a city or area as a concrete jungle, you mean that it has a lot of modern buildings and you think it is ugly or unpleasant to live in. ______________________________________________________________________ * Description or reference will be apt when all six elements are in. 1. Modernity will be most current - no new designs or craze elsewhere. 2. The ugliness will even be acknowledged by most of the residents and many of the slumlords. 3. No remodelling or redesign of the location will be in the works. 4. Unpleasantness will reflect in a low standard of living. That is, the well-being or healthiness of occupants of city or area or will not be enhanced by the structures and arrangements in a particular place. 5. Accommodation will be affordable and environment neat and safe. 6. The hallmark of living in the city and/or the ambience of the area will be a rat race between neighbours or residents, visitors and/or tourists, co-workers or colleagues, etc. That is, there will be some sort of cold comfort in the place. ____________________________ 'STRESSFUL PLEASURE'. | |
