Definitions:

i. (British English) (old-fashioned) A friend or other person that you work with, especially as soldiers during a war.

ii. Someone who has worked for the same cause or purpose as you and has shared the same difficulties and dangers.

1. Was there at and from the very beginning or start.

2. Never left your side, for a moment, to face difficulties or dangers alone, only to be affected by the unavoidable or inevitable impact of a particular difficulty or danger.

3. Not in situation by chance. That is, voluntarily took on challenge, just as you did. In other words, truly believed in cause or purpose and therefore participated actively in the events involved.

4. Will never betray you (or the cause) or become a fifth columnist, either during task, immediately after, or in the distant future.

5. Will be there till the very end, never complaining about the hardship being suffered, no matter how efforts end.
