Commanding officer
COMMANDING OFFICER

Definition: A commanding officer is an officer who is in charge of a military unit.

1. Purposeful and necessary to have head of regiment, etc.

2. Earned commission - completed cadet and/or initial training.

3. Earned the rank - passed all examinations and/or courses.

4. Deserved the posting - did not lobby for the appointment.

5. Deserved authority - appointed in a substantive capacity.

6. Competent (active) and able (fit) - leads the men and women.

7. Acts efficiently and effectively, over the materials or equipment.

8. Serves purpose(s) without committing an illegality or getting involved in a scandal. That is, hardworking and disciplined and loyal.

9. Willing and ready to be posted out at any time - to an operational area or to another unit, even if not that of a higher responsibility.
