| COLONIZATION (1) Definition: The action of taking control of an area or a country that is not your own, especially using force, and sending people from your own country to live there. ______________________________________________________________________ * All eleven elements would be in. 1. Purposeful, for those taking forceful control. 2. Necessity in the opinion of the invaders, whether or not 'invited'. 3. Force applied is reasonable, by the standards of international law. 4. Environment of conquered area or country is not despoiled as a result of raid and occupation. 5. There is full assimilation in the territory. That is, colonials and natives can and do live together, 'peacefully'. 6. Place captured is appropriately administered and developed. 7. Action will not be ruled at a later date as an illegality. 8.
