Colonelcy
COLONELCY

Definition: (American) The period of holding the rank and/or appointment of a Colonel in the army, air force or marine corps.

* All eight elements should be in.


1. Purposeful and necessary for senior officer to attain position.

2. Attained at the right period, after due process (to emphasize).

3. Rank/appointment(s) would be substantive; not in an acting role.

4. Stayed in beneficially; attending all the entitled courses, etc.

5. Completed or retained. That is, period and posting(s) will not be shortened to lead to frustration, demotion, premature retirement, etc.

6. The experience gathered herein would be useful to country, etc.

7. Senior officer would not, in later years, regret service period.

8. The period will be adequate - not 'extended' to be disadvantageous.
