Definition: A sudden failure of something, such as an institution, a business or a course of action.

1. No preparation or preparedness for a likelihood of the situation, or even for anything close to it (connect to #2).

2. No signs that thing would very soon fall apart. Or sign(s), if any, is/are inconspicuous (connect to #3).

3. Warning(s), if any, about imminence of 'death' is/are completely ignored (connect to #4).

4. Loss or losses arising from situation is/are enormous and long-lasting. (To emphasize.)

5. Situation is not or will not be irredeemable. That is, measures can be taken to get some good out of, or after, the failure (connect to #6).

6. After effects or fallout of failure are bearable. That is, nothing untoward develops as a result (connect to #7).

7. Failure lasts for a duration considered appropriate for loser(s). That is, owner, proprietor, etc. can and/or will 'get up' and start to rebuild after a while. (And can rebuild up to stage desired.)
