| COAXING Definition: Gentle attempts to persuade somebody to do something or to get a machine to start. ______________________________________________________________________ * All eight elements should be in. 1. Purposeful (to emphasize). 2. There is a necessity to be gentle, in the opinion of the person attempting persuasion. That is, other approaches have been tried and failed or are likely not to succeed. 3. Persuasion is fully concentrated on. That is, gentleness lasts for an appropriate time and all through the situation. 4. Extra care is taken in the choice of words, actions, etc. That is, what is said or done will not have a negative and undesired effect on the person/machine being attempted to be convinced/prompted. 5. Person gently persuading another is seen clearly to lose something such as time, pride, (reserved/extra) energy, etc. (And no injury or damage occurs to person(s) or tool/machine part(s) in the process.) 6. Nothing illegal is done in the attempt to get thing to be done or for equipment to start. 7. Method achieves objective(s) - thing is finally done or machines starts in the end - however long it takes. 8.
