(informal, disapproving) If you describe something that someone says as claptrap, you mean that it is foolish or stupid although it may sound important. ______________________________________________________________________ * All six elements would be in. 1. Purposeful and necessary for talker or speaker to say thing. 2. Not known or expected by speaker to be treated as balderdash. 3. Listened to and heard completely, from its very beginning to end. 4.
