| CLANGER Definition: (British English) An obvious and embarrassing mistake. ______________________________________________________________________ * All ten elements would be in. 1. Not planned or deliberately made (to emphasize). 2. Mistake was not expected to be made by the person(s). 3. Loss results from the plain and shameful error. 4. Mistake is not dehumanizing (to emphasize, connect to #3 & #8). 5. Not possible to immediately make up for the mistake. That is, loss cannot be quickly recouped or corrected. 6. Mistake will not be forgotten, even if forgiven! 7. Mistake is seen/noticed or will be seen/noticed by some other(s). That is, obvious and embarrassing occurrence does/did not occur in the privacy of person(s) who makes/made the mistake. 8. Person(s) who makes/made mistake is not shameless. That is, the embarrassment is real and there is a realization about the reality of the error. 9. A lesson or lessons is/are learned from the event (connect to #10). 10.
